Isa 65:24 – It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear. (NIV)
Often times, this verse is quoted to convey a time when the person is in a dangerous situation and God protected them before they realized they were even in danger. Over the past few days I have personally experienced this verse, more than once, but it wasn't because of a dangerous situation at all.
This past Sabbath I was awakened at 7am because my pager went off. I got up, walked to the living room and checked the page, since I was on-call. I called the hospital for clarification and booted up the computer. While I was online, my skype popped up (since it auto starts) and my friend who I had not talked to, in person or over the phone in over 8 years, was online. It was awesome to be able to talk to her again, especially since she's half-way around the world from me. We learned that she does have a good enough internet connection out there to actually have skype calls and there isn't as big of a delay as compared to calling on a landline. Regardless, we were able to talk, just like old times. It was like He knew that I've had wanted to talk to her for a while and He "woke" me up so that I could. I hadn't even asked Him for that opportunity, He just did it.
During the Operation Christmas Child shoebox wrapping event, Don approached me and asked if I wrote and would I be interested in contributing to the church's website. At the time, I didn't feel like people would be interested in what I had to say much less have anything meaningful to say. But He came thru with my unprayed prayer and gave me these instances to write about. So while we know and we've heard several times that God always answers prayers, just not always the answers that we want, He also answers the prayers that haven't even been prayed!
Next Saturday night (Nov 13) we will be packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. We will start with a short vespers and photo presentation of last year's box packing party. If you can, bring a plate of cookies for us to enjoy while packing the boxes. We will also be having hot chocolate. Below is the list of items you need to bring for each box. Consider prayerfully how many boxes you would like to donate.
Directions for Packing your Shoe Box
Pick up a shoe box from the Operation Christmas Child Table in the foyer.
Decide if you are going to pack a box for a boy or girl.
Then determine what age child you would like to pack your box for. The children's age categories are divided like this. Ages 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. It is especially nice to do boxes for the 10-14 age group, they often don't get boxes.
Fill the box with gifts. There are a variety of gifts that you can include that will delight a child. Use the gift ideas that are at the bottom of the page.
Include your donation. Please donate $7.00 for each shoe box you prepare to help cover shipping. You can give online by using our EZGIVE option or you can write a check to Samaritan's Purse (not please write OCC on the memo line) and place it in the envelope on top of the gift items inside your box. If you are packing more than one shoebox, please make one combined donation.

Bowling Night & Health Fair Photos
I am looking for a Beavercreek Church member who owns a corn hole set. One of the fabulously fun things happening during the church campout at Camp Mohaven will be a double-elimination corn hole tournament on Saturday night. I already have one set; however, we will need two in order to keep things moving. We will also be having other games and activities. Come join the fun! Ask Susen or Heather regarding details on the campout.
