We will affirm Gods calling of Pastor Jon, confirm his pastoral leadership, and celebrate the covenant between Trinity, Pastor Jon, the congregation, and the association of American Baptist Churches. A picnic pot luck lunch will follow. Please plan to be a part of this important event in the life of our church. Please note: There will be no Sunday School that day.
A meeting of Pastor Jon, the Leadership Team, and all Team Leaders is planned for Tuesday, September 14, at 6:30 p.m. We will be discussing the vision and goals of the church and opportunities to coordinate the efforts of all of the Teams to make or ministry more effective. Pastor Jon will give his views also, so that everyone has an understanding of where we are going so we can all head down the same road together.
Anyone who may have a few hours available weekdays is encouraged to volunteer to help out in the church office answering the telephone, making copies, and performing other light office duties. We are looking to start out staffing the mornings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but would be thankful for help at any other time you may be available. A rotating schedule will be set up so that the responsibilities will be spread out as much as possible.
Door hanger invitations are available in the lobby for each of you to take and distribute in your neighborhood, inviting folks to come and meet our new Pastor and to see what our church fellowship is all about. Also, if you can spend an hour helping to distribute some in the neighborhoods around the church, please see Steve Cope for additional hangers and the streets that still need to be canvassed. It is great exercise and a chance to give the church some good visibility.
During the weekend of June 26th & 27th, the Search Committee hosted a Candidate Weekend for Pastor Jon Lobos, the recommended candidate for the position of Senior Pastor, and his wife Merrilee. Both met many of you at the events during the weekend that included a breakfast, a congregational dinner and a combined worship service. Jon and Merrilee commented on how welcomed they felt, and how the members of Trinity made them feel comfortable and engaged them in conversation during every event.
Following the worship service, a Business Meeting was conducted to vote on calling Jon to be our Pastor. The vote was UNANIMOUS to call Pastor Jon Lobos as the next Senior Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church. Pastor Jon graciously accepted the offer, and his first Sunday with us will be August 22nd.
