ALT-Chat combines the power of the ChatPC software with Prentke Romich Company's popular Springboard Lite hardware. Although still very portable at 2.5 lbs., ALT-Chat offers a brilliant 7" display, switch scanning, text-to-speech synthesis and all of the other ChatPC features.

ALT-Chat includes over 3,000 PCS symbols. An additional 7,000 PCS symbols are included in the accompanying DesktopChat software. Installed vocabulary programs include PalmChat, myVoice, VocabPC, 16 Primary, and 16 Basic.

Saltillo announces the American debut of Speakout. SpeakOut is a portable communication device with a user-friendly QWERTY keyboard. It uses Acapela synthesized speech, and includes both male and female adult voices. A 10,000 word dynamic word prediction system assists with typing speed and spelling accuracy. Frequantly used phrases can be stored under a key combination. Documents typed on SpeakOut can be transferred to a computer or printed directly on an HP printer. SpeakOut also includes features such as reminders, a phone book, and a calculator.

The ChatPC-Silk is the lightest, sleekest and most powerful ChatPC to date. Although it has a large 4" display, it weighs only 9 oz. (12.5 oz. when inside the protective rubber cover).

Along with the new hardware platform, ChatPC is now also available with three different speech synthesizers. The brand new NeoSpeech has a very clear and natural sounding voice in Amerian English. Loquendo is available for those who need voice synthesis in other languages (US English, UK English, Spanish, French, German and Italian. DECTalk is available for those who prefer the classic voices of ChatPC, including a child's voice.

Successful augmentative communication requires more than providing an assistive communication device to an individual. Funding for assistive communication devices is often available through third party providers such as insurance companies, Medicaid and Medicare. Obtaining the funding is usually a formal process requiring numerous steps such as obtaining an assessment from a speech therapist, a prescription from a doctor, etc. Saltillo Corporation is now working with Prentke Romich Company in order to provide our customers with the very best funding support.
