First Lady, activist, author, public speaker, mother and wife Eleanor Roosevelts many roles led her to become one of the most admired women in the world during the 20th century. During a course based on curriculum developed by Dr. Elizabeth Kelly of DePaul University in Chicago, delve into the politics, history and social action that filled the legacy of Eleanor Roosevelts career and life mission.
Begin with a look into the early, formative years of Eleanor Roosevelts life, and learn how this young orphan excelled in boarding school and later went on to marry her distant cousin, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Consider her career as First Lady and how her husbands illness propelled her further into public light a factor that soon made her an important influence on public policy. Conclude your study of Eleanor Roosevelts life as you delve into her career with the United Nations and her dedication to the adoption of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights.
