World-famous Broadway and Disney composer Alan Menken provided a workshop for TSA students in the TSA Attic Theater on October 22, with students from Perrysburg, Springfield and UT joining in. Menken holds more Academy Awards than any other living person, for his many films and musical adaptations with the Disney Corporation. After speaking about his life and answering questions, the workshop was capped when Mr. Menken performed a 20-minute medley of his songs from Little Shop of Horrors, Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast, Pocahontas, Aladdin, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and more. Throughout the performance, the entire audience of 160 students sang every song, word for word, creating what can only be called a magical moment. Mr. Menken was visibly moved by what he later called his unexpected place in the collective conscience. Several TSA students were able to perform for him, in selections from the TSA production of Little Shop of Horrors. Mr. Menkens appearance at TSA was generously provided by the Valentine Theatre.
Congratulations to the Cast and Crew of The Horror Double Feature!!
