Welcome to Athens Book Center Stop by and visit our store for the latest new book releases or just browse our shelves and soak up the ambiance. We carry new and used books, children's toys, puppets, puzzles, and other gift items. We also serve expresso, coffee, and smoothies.
Lots of new Children's Items
Our children's book castle-area is full of books from baby to young adult. We carry a wide array of Melissa and Doug wooden puzzles and toys. There are many Folkmanis puppets for the young and old!
Lots of Free Parking
We are at 74 East State Street. Located near the intersection of East State Street and Stimson aAve. and bordering Fern Street. We are open Mon.- Sat. 10:00 to 7:00 and Sunday, 12:00 to 5:00. Seven parking spaces are available free on the Fern street side of the Book Center.
Athens Book Center allows you to bring your books in and trade for more used books. We put a resale value on the book (usually half the cover price or what it is selling for now on the internet) and you get approximately 1/3 value in book credit. We keep the credit on a rolladex. When you are buying used books with credit, 3/4 is taken off the credit and 1/4 is paid in cash. Some books are not accepted for trading such as hardback fiction (unless a very popular author, sets of encyclopedias, and books in very poor condition.
Our store helps promote reading and that books are important. Bring your class by for a visit as part of a reading field trip! Give us a call and we can work on making your class visit a good one. And remember, if you are using your money for classroom books (and what teacher doesn't?) we give you a discount to help out.
