What Is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the healthcare science that deals primarily with the neuromusculoskeletal system. That is, the Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) concerns himself mainly with muscle aches and strains, ligamentous sprains and pain in the back, legs, arms or neck. The Chiropractic Physician is a primary healthcare provider who is educated in diagnosing and treating disease in a conservative and natural approach that does not involve the use of drugs or surgery. He relies on therapies that have the least amount of side effects, including nutritional counseling, vitamin therapy, physiotherapy or specific adjustments to the spine to correct bony misalignments which may be causing "pinched nerves"
History of the Lancaster Chiropractic Rehab Center
Dr. Kenneth C. Hartley founded the Lancaster Chiropractic Clinic in 1950. The clinic was then a small office located on the second floor of the Kresge building in downtown Lancaster. The growth of his practice necessitated the move to the clinics present location at 616 N. Columbus Street.
Dr. Hartley, always ahead of his time, was the first chiropractic physician in the area to use flexion/distraction reduction for disk injuries. He was also one of the charter members of the Central Ohio Chiropractic Association.
In 1984, the chiropractic physician clinic was purchased by Dr. Jerrold J. Simon, a chiropractic physician who graduated as "outstanding senior" of his class at National University of Health Sciences. Dr. Simon interned at Chicago General Health Center and is licensed to practice chiropractic in the states of Illinois, Florida and Ohio.
In 1996, the clinic name was changed to Lancaster Chiropractic Rehab Center to reflect the introduction of full spine rehab technique services being offered. During the nineties the center was one of the first chiropractic offices in the area to offer rehabilitation as well as NCV/EMG services used to diagnose such things as carpal tunnel syndrome, etc.
In addition, for over twenty years, the center has offered full service nutritional counseling, independent medical exams and disability exams among other services.
The mission of this Chiropractic office is to provide our patients with quality, conservative, and cost effective healthcare and to treat each patient and their concerns with the same respect, kindness, and attention as we would desire for ourselves.
