The Karate we teach here is Traditional Pangai-noon Karate Jutsu. This style is very different from the Shotokan or Tae Kwon Do styles that you see a lot. Pangai-noon meaning, "Half Hard, Half Soft", uses circular blocks rather than forced blocks to deflect and control attacks with greater ease. Goju-Ryu and Uechi-Ryu are very similar styles of Karate to Pangai-noon. You will see a lot of the same Katas in those styles that you will see in Pangai-noon. We emphasize on body conditioning for the adult students. Getting our Mind, Body and Spirit to work as one.

One of the arts we teach, Aiki-Jutsu, ties into our Aikido training. A lot of Aikido's principles, movements and techniques come from Aiki-Jutsu. A good way to tell the difference between the two is Aikido is a defensive art and Aiki-Jutsu is more offensive. Of course they are both used for self defense but this is the easiest way to describe difference between the two. A lot of the same techniques you'll find in both arts but, the more straight forward and aggressive ones you will find in the Aiki-Jutsu training. To get a well rounded education of self defense we incorporate both arts into our training. The good principles, centeredness and grace of Aikido and mix it with some of the devastating throws of Aiki-Jutsu.

One of the arts we teach here is Aikido. A simple description of what Aikido does is that it uses your opponents energy against them. Redirecting his energy into a different direction. The harder he attacks the harder he falls. That is why the art of Aikido can work for anyone. Man, Woman, Old or Young.

Davis school of Martial Arts is the only school in the area to offer Traditional Okinawa Kobudo. We currently teach 6 of the 12 traditional Okinawan weapons.
