Tornado reported in Wooster, Akron streets flooded as storms rip through area

Storms that blasted through Ohio with powerful winds and large hail have left destruction at an Ohio State University campus, flipped over mobile homes and injured several people.
A possible tornado occurred around 6 p.m. Thursday south of Wooster, authorities said.
The Ohio Highway Patrol said damage was reported on the campus of the Ohio State Agricultural Technical Institute off U.S. Route 250.
A lab building was reduced to a pile of bricks and equipment, greenhouses were destroyed and trees were uprooted on the campus. There were no reports of injuries.
The storm also caused severe street flooding in parts of Akron. The Akron Fire Department had to rescue several stranded motorists. There were no reports of significant storm damage in the Akron area.
About a dozen people were hurt in Southeast Ohio's Athens County, where mobile homes were overturned, temporarily trapping some residents. WBNS-TV of Columbus reported that the sheriff's office knew of no fatalities.
American Electric Power reported about 18,600 customers had no service Friday morning.
