New EPA Regulations for Contractors Have Important Insurance Ramifications (Read more) Effective late April 2010, new EPA regulations now apply to contractors performing renovation, repair, and painting (RRP) projects in homes, child care facilities, and schools built prior to 1978. The new requirements essentially mean that such facilities will be treated as if contaminated with lead paint.

The new regulations require specific containment procedures, detailed record keeping, and an employee certified as a lead renovator on site at all times during setup, demolition, and cleanup. The EPA also requires a post-cleanup dust test. EPA certification is mandatory and takes a minimum of 90 days to obtain.
Violation fees start at $32,500 per day, per violation. The financial toll of non-compliance with RRP regulations could be devastating. Insurance Partners Teams With Firemans Fund Insurance Company To Provide Grant Aid For Geauga County Fire Investigation Team (Read more) RUSSELL TOWNSHIP, OHIO, November 2008 Lieutenant Jim Bell, from the Russell Fire Department, is breathing a little easier today thanks to the efforts of Insurance Partners Agency.

The Geauga County Fire Investigation Unit (GCFIU) received a grant from Firemans Fund Insurance Company that allowed for the purchase of new respiratory and safety equipment. The grant was secured with the help of Sharon Francz from Insurance Partners, working closely with Christina Roderick from Firemans Fund, and many letters of support from the surrounding communities.
Lieutenant Bell had previously completed a research project on the Departments need for respiratory protective equipment and other safety articles for the GCFIU team. This group, representing various departments in Geauga County, provides fire suppression, fire prevention, ALS EMS, technical rescue, hazardous material removal, dive team, fire investigation, and safety education services to the surrounding communities. His study found that the GCFIU was lacking some important equipment for their work.
Insurance Partners learned of the need, and contacted Firemans Fund Insurance Company, to see what help they could offer through their Heritage Bucket Brigade Grant Program, a unique program that gives Fireman's Fund the opportunity to support firefighters in providing safer communities. After completing the nomination process and being chosen as a grant recipient by the selection committee, the department received the full amount requested. This money was used to outfit each team member of the GCFIU with an air purifying respirator and safety glasses, as well as a state-of-the-art multi-gas air monitoring meter for testing air quality at job sites.
