GALLIPOLIS CAREER COLLEGE RECEIVES OHIO BOARD OF REGENTS AUTHORIZATION TO AWARD ASSOCIATE DEGREES
Gallipolis Career College has received authorization from the Ohio Board of Regents to award associate degrees through December 31, 2012. We received our authorization with the Chancellor’s signature on February 23, 2009.

This authorization is the culmination of almost two years of hard work from the staff and faculty of The College. Many meetings were held, documents printed, questions answered, and changes made to accomplish this major benefit to our students. Our staff and faculty are to be congratulated for their contributions to this. Receiving the Ohio Board of Regents authorization, in laymen’s terms, IS A REALLY BIG DEAL!!!!!!

In order for GCC to meet the more stringent Ohio Board of Regents’ standards, several major changes have been or will be made. We have upgraded our library and will continue to do so. We have hired highly qualified instructors with master’s degrees in the subject matters they teach while maintaining most of our current faculty. We will be improving our placement testing methods to meet the OBR’s regulations. Curriculum changes will be forthcoming to improve our offerings. Two things that will not change are our retention and placement efforts. GCC continually exceeds the retention and placement rates of public universities and community colleges. In addition to the financial benefits of having our associate degrees authorized by the Ohio Board of Regents, students will be able to transfer their credits earned at GCC to both public and private universities in Ohio. This means that if you wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree then transferring your credit hours earned while attaining your associate degree will be easier to transfer to a four-year school. In summary, we pledge to make our school one which you can have continued pride in attending.
