Our BVMA Family is Growing!

It is with great excitement that we welcome Martin A. Valdivia, M.D. to our BVMA family! Dr. Valdivia is board certified in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine and will provide specialized care to our patients.

Dr. Valdivia attended medical school in Arequipa, Peru and completed a general medicine internship in Lima, Peru. His extensive education continued in the United States at the University of Miami School of Medicine - Jackson Memorial Hospital - where he completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine. His training continued at The Ohio State University, completing a three year fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Valdivia has been practicing for the last three years with Blanchard Valley Health System, serving the Kenton area. Beginning September 2, he will join BVMA seeing patients at our office in Findlay three days each week, as well as continuing his care of patients in Kenton one day per week. As an active medical staff member at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Dr. Valdivia is able to admit and care for inpatients right here in Findlay.

BVMA is also very happy to announce that Mandy Williams, PA-C, will be joining our practice as a
full-time Internal Medicine Physician Assistant in October of 2010!
Mandy graduated from Marshall University in May of 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training and Adult Fitness, both of which continue to be areas of special interest for her. Mandy then went on to continue her education at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, obtaining her Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. As part of her extensive training Mandy worked as a Physician Assistant in a variety of settings, including internal medicine, psychiatry, cardiothoracic surgery, orthopedic surgery, OB-GYN, and pediatrics. She has been employed for the past two years as a Physician Assistant in the Emergency Department at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Mandy’s education and experience will undoubtedly be a valuable contribution toward providing excellent patient care, and BVMA is very excited to welcome Mandy to our provider team!

Have you gotten your annual flu shot?

If the answer is no, we can help! Our flu shot clinic is now up and running. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 8:30-4:00, Friday 8:30-3:00. No appointments are necessary!

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, everyone six months of age and older should be vaccinated against the flu; however, certain groups are at higher risk for infection. If you fit into one of the following target groups, getting your flu shot is an important safeguard against infection:

Children younger than 5, but especially children younger than 2 years old
People 50 years of age and older
People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions
People who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities
People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu, including health care workers and household contacts
