Not that I’m surprised, but companies have been paying people to post positive tweets about them, even though the tweeter might not have ever used the product or service. To me, it’s against everything social media stands for. (Which is: a way to avoid advertisers!)
Being marketers ourselves, we believe this is totally against social media’s DNA.
A firm called Izea pays folks to promote their clients without the tweeters acknowledging they’re being paid. It’s surprising how short-sighted this is of Izea and their out-of-touch clients. I only hope once this comes to light by the sm world, it will backfire on everyone involved.

And on the user side of the coin, AdAge came out with an article about how Twitter will place advertising into individual user's Twitter streams. Virgin, Starbucks and Red Bull will be the first advertisers to be involved in this new service (meaning a new service to the advertisers, of course!)

We were honored to assist the Short North Business Association extend their marketing efforts to bigger and better things.
This is a sneak peek at the first few (in an ongoing series) of posters, ads and web banners. We used both well-known, and not so well known folks who are avid supporters of the Short North to highlight the diversity of the neighborhood.
In the preview above, Andrea Cambern was kind enough to lend us her support, as was the illustrious Mr. Denny Griffith, President of CCAD.
This series is also intended to reach out to the suburbs through newspaper ads to get the Short North on the radar of folks who live in the suburbs.
