Allis-Chalmers introduced the strange-looking ”G” in 1948. This tractor was designed especially for small farms, vegetable gardens and landscaping. The four-cylinder engine, with just over nine-horsepower, was mounted in the back with the implements in front. The operator could closely watch where the cultivator or fertilizer was going and carefully plant, seed and cultivate vegetables, seedlings and berries. About 30,000 unites were sold from 1948 through 1955. The ”G” listed for $970 in 1955. Many are still being used today.
