The Toledo Kennel Club is a not-for-profit organization of dog owners, breeders, performance enthusiasts and show exhibitors dedicated to the welfare and advancement of purebred dogs. It is chartered in the State of Ohio as a nonprofit corporation and operates under the Rules and Regulations of the American Kennel Club. It is a member of the American Kennel Club and participates in the governance of that body through an elected delegate.


The Toledo Kennel Club is a public service and educational resource for the community. It is committed to the promotion of responsible dog breeding and ownership, conducts training classes for dogs and owners, sponsors seminars, health clinics and other events, and holds Dog Shows and Matches under AKC rules.

To enter a class, bring or mail the Application form to the Toledo Kennel Club, or obtain one the first night of the class.

Usually classes do not fill in advance, but if a class has filled, it will be labeled as "filled" on this web page.

Novice (Advanced) Obedience class: 6 weeks, $65 for each dog.
Next classes start:
Monday, January10, 2011, 6:30 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.
The class is a continuation of the skills taught in the beginner's class. Emphasis will be on improving performance of the exercises as well as introduction to off-lead work. This class is for the novice handler and/or novice dog. The class must have at least 3 but not more than 10 participants.

Familiarization with Rally stations, courses and handling techniques. All levels. Dogs should have previous training in beginners Obedience.

The class covers the elements of dog obedience and training methods, and provides the basis for more advanced obedience.

Socialization and puppy-level obedience training for puppies ages 3 mo. to 6 mo.

Conformation (Dog Showing) sessions- Show training for dogs and handlers ($6 per handler each night). Classes are conducted in the same manner as a dog show, with all of the ring procedures normally used in shows including gaiting patterns and individual dog examination. Thursday, 7:30 - 8:45 P.M. - $6 each night, no advance enrollment, sessions start September 16.

NEW: Handling Course, 3 weeks, $35 for each handler; limited to 6 handlers; training in competitive show handling, same time as the practice sessions, but in a separate ring.
Next Handling Course starts: Thursday, January 6, 2011, 7:30 P.M. Enrollment necesssary; limit 6.
No classes on 4th Thursday of each month because of TKC meetings and on dates when the building is not available because of special Friday events; check below for specific dates..

Sunday each week, 10:00 A.M - 12 Noon (except when the building is in use for an Obediance Trial or other event). A Class will be canceled if a Level 2 weather emergency is in effect for Lucas County, Ohio 2 hours before the scheduled starting time for the class.
A Class usually will not be canceled if a Level 1 weather advisory is in effect for Lucas County, unless more severe weather is imminent.
Notice of cancellation of a class will be posted as early as possible on this web site.
