The Allies have made their parachute drops and have exploited into the Groesbeek Heights and Oosterbeek taking the German’s by Surpise. However the Allied attacks have been slow to develop as only XXX Corps stepped off on time attacking from Joe’s Bridge up the Valkenswaard Road.
Despite a valiant defence by members of the 6th Fallschirmjager Regiment supporting Wayne’s Grenadiers, Allied forces combining some armor from XXX Corps along with some US Paratroopers were able to drive the Germans back into Eindhoven with some heavy losses. Luckily for the Germans, most of the 6th Fallschirmjager were able to pull back and have now set-up a perimeter in Eindhoven.
There are still plenty of battles to fight on Turn 1 but as of the end of Day 1 of the campaign the map looks like this.
Flames of War – Operation Market Garden Campaign Kick-off Saturday, July 17th
by Ed July 14th, 2010
Calling all Flames of War Commanders – The campaign starts on Saturday, July 17th at 10 a.m.and games can be played at any time that day throughout the day and then games throughout the first campaign turn will be played at any time over the next two weeks. We will also be discussing the campaing overall and answering any questions anyone may have.
The Allied forces under the command of Brigadier Calovini shall be attempting to advance up Hell’s Highway to capture the key Dutch Bridges ultimately hoping to capture the bridge over the Rhine and end the war by Christmas. Meanwhile the German’s under Generalmajor Nageotte shall seek to thwart the Allies and drive them back from Holland inflicting as much damage as possible along the way.
Please join us and take the role of either an Allied Commander leading your troops to victory over the German war machine or a German Commander hoping to crush the allied advance, reminding the hated Tommies and the upstart Yanks exactly how you conquered Europe a few short years ago.
Bring up your FOW armies and army lists at the 1100, 1250 or 1500 point levels and we will set you up with someone to play and go over any questions anyone has on the campaign. Whether you play British, US, German, Russians, Italians or any other nationality you can participate in the campaign. In addition, whether you are available play once over the next 10 weeks or 3 games every day, and whether your are a hardened Veteran or a green Recruit you are all encouraged and more than welcome to play.
We all hope to see you there on Saturday.
Every Tuesday – 40K Open Play all nite
Every Wednesday – D&D 4.0 Encounters – Come in and role play.
Every Thursday – Star Wars Miniatures Play at 6:00
Every Friday – Open Play – a good nite for War Machine

Flames of War – June 19th from 10-? – PRELUDE TO MARKET-GARDEN
by Ed May 27th, 2010
Bring your own army at 1100 Points, either Mid or Late War in any current book and we will get you partnered up with an opponent to battle. Whether you are an experienced General or not, it is now time to bring your own forces to the table to see if you can conquer Europe as a member of the Axis powers or save Europe and repel the Axis invaders with your Allied troops. I will be available to help with any rules or other questions that may crop up.
We will also be discussing a Firestorm Market Garden Campaign for the near future, so if you are an Allied player, get your Armoured and Airborne troops ready and pick up those last squads you will need to make the push into Holland and secure a bridge across the Rhine. As an Axis player, make sure to bulk up your Panzer Divisions and Grenadiers to stop the Allies from entering the Fatherland.
If anyone has any questions on what forces or units they may want to pick up for the campaign please feel free to ask and we will be happy to help you out.
Warhammer Fantasy 8th Edition – July 10th!!!
by Adam April 20th, 2010 Tags: Games Workshop, Warhammer Fantasy
Well, it looks like it’s official: Warhammer Fantasy Battles 8th Edition should be out July 10th, 2010. Between this and the new Skaven army book and models, I’ll be really geared up to hit the gaming table this summer!
Check out this YouTube video that GW put out:
Can you command your force of GIs orTommies to victory over Jerry and his Italian allies in Africa or Western Europe; orwill you take the role of Ivan and protect Mother Russia from predations of the Hun? Bring 900 points of your favorite force up to the store on the 17th to find out. As horrible rainy and overcast weather once again plagues the various theaters, only armor, artillery and infantry will be able to play a part in these battles. You may take your forces from the any of the books currently for sale just let us know when you arrive which book you have chosen so we can pair you off with appropriate armies.
There is plenty of room for all, and as we did last time we will have a few extra armies available for anyone who does not have their army currently ready for battle. I hope to see you all there and if you have any friends that have an interest please bring them along.
This isn’t exactly “new” news, but in a recent episode of the The D6 Generation podcast they did a rules overview of Malifaux. From the fluff to the rules, it was a great intro to the game. If you’ve been considering picking up some Malifaux minis, or you already picked up the game and are still trying to gather up the willpower to dig through the rules – I would listen to this first. It’s making learning the game much easier for me and is guaranteed to suck you into this great skirmish game.

Check the time stamps in the notes on the page if you want to skip ahead in the podcast to the review of Malifaux. If you aren’t already familiar with The D6 Generation, they are an amazing general gaming podcast that is worth a listen.
We wanted to let you all know that we have changed the event slightly and you should now bring 900 point armies with a mix of armor and infantry only. The games are scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.and run until2:00 or 3:00 p.m. depending on how things go and how long anyone wants to play. If anyone has any questions please call the store or drop me a line on here.
We are once again running a Flames of War event with enough room for all interested players, regardless of experience level. The main goal is to bring in any 600 point army from the Festung-Europa, Hell’s Highway, A Bridge Too Far or North Africa books and try your luck in facing off against other Generals. We will try and match up Allies against Axis Players to the extent we can and will try and get in and least a couple of games each. I will have a couple of extra army lists available for newer players if they just want to try the game out.
Once the event is over you are welcome to stick around and play some more games at whatever points level you want to try.
We are also looking into getting a sponsored 900+ point tournament for at least 12 players in the near future if we can garner enough interest. If anyone is interested in entering such a tournament please let us know by dropping us a line in the comment section.
If you have any questions or want to let me know you will be up at the store on Saturday the 20th of March please feel free to drop me a line in the comment section and I will get back to you as soon as possible. We look forward to seeing you on the 20th.

Orks Invade the Imperium – Planetstrike Battle on Saturday, February 20th
by Ed February 17th, 2010 Tags: Games Workshop, Planetstrike, Warhammer 40K
Waaagh!!! Defftoof has its sights set squarely on the Planet of Carentan 6 and the only defenders currently standing inits way are a contingent ofSpace Marines of the Crimson Lions Chapter, currently detailed to the Chapter’s Fortress of Redemption on Carentan 6, and some Imperial Guardsmen from the Carpathian Rangers, who had arrived scant weeks before the Ork invaders. The host of the Mechanicum Engiseers in conjunction with the Techmarines of the Crimson Lions have had barely enough time to erect and strengthen the Aegis Defensive Lines and pre-fabricated Plasteel Bastions before theOrk Invasionbegins. A call for re-inforcements has gone out and there has been rumors that a Crusadeof the Black Templars Chapter is on its way, but will they be in time?
Theonslaught starts this Saturday morning at 10 and will last for several hours. There will be spots for between 2-6 players in the game, some of which have been filled, but there is probably room for a couple of folks yet. If you are interested in just seeing the game or in playing please stop on by and say hi. Even if the game fills upI am sure if you cannot get into this game there are sure to be other players looking to game. If there is enough interest I am sure we will be giving this another try in the not to distant future.
