We thrive on our creative design. At the same time, we save money for homeowners who choose us for garden and landscape projects by using efficient and economical installation and demanding quality control techniques. We work with many of our customers to keep those beautiful spaces looking beautiful with trained horticulturists using the latest maintenance technologies.

It means that we specialize in those segments of the landscape business in which our expertise, experience and resulting efficiencies provide our customers with a distinct advantage. We once handled every part of every job. Today, we oversee a roster of handpicked specialists: woodworkers and carpenters for decks and structures, paving contractors for terraces, stone masons for walls and walkways mowing services for simple maintenance processes. They work closely with us so we can assure our customers receive timely service, the highest quality installation, and the most competitive prices.

We Do What It Takes

Our landscape operation is located in East Walnut Hills, Cincinnati, Ohio. Although we have had a warehouse and storage lot in this location since 1981, the recent acquisition of additional property has allowed us to construct a second warehouse on East McMillan Street.

We maintain operating headquarters in East Walnut Hills and radio dispatch our landscaping crews to minimize travel time and control costs. We maintain a staff of trained horticulturists and licensed pesticide applicators and retain landscape architects to cover every design, installation, and landscape maintenance contingency.

We operate our own 120-acre nursery in Morrow, Ohio, assuring access to top quality garden and plant stock for your project.

Our nursery manager, Dave Marr, has been with us since 1986. Dave has been involved with the nursery industry since he was 16 years old.

Our main office is located at our nursery facility in Morrow, Ohio.

Leah is the office manager and has been with our company since 1996.

Pody, Dan's wife, has been involved in the business since 1980. She does the books, payroll and and websites and help's out in the office.

No Substitute for Experience

Rick Moeller has been with our company since 1986. He is our head foreman and in charge of personnel. Rick is also a certified landscape installer.

Brandon Druffel came back to work for us this spring. Brandon is a landscape architect graduate from West Virginia University. He comes to us with 2 years experience as an architectural designer with Michael Baker company in Alexandria Virginia. Brandon is also LEED acredited.
Their experience has been essential in the design and execution of award-winning landscape projects. To date we have received 23 State Landscape Awards and 20 Civic Beautification Awards. Our accomplishments even included landscape installation for the movie set for the film Lost In Yonkers.

A Brief History

In 1970, two enterprising Cincinnati high school entrepreneurs formed a fateful partnership. Equipped with two used power mowers and a goal to provide quality lawn mowing service, they succeeded. In a day when a dollar was still a dollar, they grossed $8,000 in business: a lot of lawns.
In the next seven years before Mike Schmerge of Druffel & Schmerge chose accounting over lawn mowing, the business grew to $130,000.

Dan Druffel took over and has transformed a small lawn care business into one of the areas most successful full-service landscape design installation and nursery organizations. Dan Druffel, Inc. in Cincinnati, Ohio is the landscape service arm; Double D Plant Ranch in Morrow, Ohio is a 120-acre, fully irrigated nursery that supplies the landscape business and continues to become a larger wholesale supplier of quality horticultural stock.
