Autobahn Craftwerks made a run at the record books in the Summer of 2008 and 2009 at the Bonneville salt flats with a custom-built BMW motorcycle. The project started with a high performance build of a 1954 500cc air-cooled engine, placed into a vintage R50/2 frame.
Len competed in Altered Vintage Gas, and set a new mark at 92mph. Eric reached 104mph competing in Semi-Streamlined Vintage Gas.
Autobahn will be returning to Bonneville this summer. More info and pics here.

Autobahn Craftwerks has been in business for thirty years starting in 1970. The original site was Northside Radiator, my Father's Business for thirty years. From working with Father I learned auto mechanics and to how operate a small business. Autobahn Craftwerks originally started as a Volkswagen repair shop, specializing in Beetle restoration. As I was riding motorcycles at the time I expanded into motorcycle repair. I soon started doing restoration of old motorcycles as a marketing line and have become one of the area's best known specialty motorcycle painters. In the last five years the business has expanded four times. Expanded into a new building and floor space and now have floor space for a show room and clothing line. The shop has grown from a 2,000 square feet building to a 12,000 square foot working shop. Three years ago I purchased the Bajaj & Argo Motor Scoter Line. This transferred my used dealer's license to a new dealer's license and allowed me to expand into the retail sales scooter market. At this time I began using the Internet to expand business to worldwide market. Currently Autobahn Craftwerks has developed its reputation on quality vintage motorcycle restoration.
